Make an LED light with 3D printed frame with the FORMART machine
A vacuum former can be used for all kinds of home decor projects. Create your own trays, planters, displays or lamps and give your home a personal touch.
In the video below you can see how we created custom LED lamps with a 3D printer and a vacuum former.
Files
Machines
- 3D printer
- MY YARD vacuum former
Materials
- PET sheet, 0.5 mm
- HIPS sheet, 1.0 mm
- E27 LED lamp - We used 5 W LEDs for this video. Always make sure you use lamps that do not get hot!
- E27 bulb fitting
Instructions
- Download the STL files from the link above and print them with your 3D printer.
- Put the moulds for the shell on your vacuum former and use a material sheet to form the shapes. Use HIPS for opaque shells and PET for transparent shells.
- Cut the formed shells out of the sheet. Make sure you also make an opening in the middle part that the electrical wire can go through.
- Place the lamp fitting and lamp inside the shell.
- Fold the shell to close it and fix both halves in place with the 3D printed outer frame.
